Machine Learning Operations Engineer - VUHL
Hi, I'm Owen Kington
Building ML systems that empower veterans toward homeownership
About Me
I'm an ML Operations Engineer at Veterans United Home Loans, where I maintain production systems for veteran loan and real estate services. I'm passionate about using technology to create real value for veterans , it's why I've stayed with VUHL since my sophomore year at Purdue. I combine technical depth with a genuine love for problem solving and overcoming adversity, whether that's optimizing ML pipelines, building side projects that blend AI with music and cooking, or simply pushing past my own fears through climbing and completing triathalons.
Fun Facts About Me
My first game that I made was in C++ using SFML, it was a vertical 2D platformer, and i made every asset myself. It ended up winning the Missouri state SkillsUSA game development competition competition and got 13th place at nationals
I started a club in high school called Brochet, focused on getting guys into chrochet and help break the stigma of craft hobbies being imasculating. While the club faded after I graduated, I'm always proud when I see the koozies we made together on their social media posts
I'm an advid supporter of 1. FC Union Berlin, after I was assigned to learn about them in a German class from a literal drawing from a hat. I fell in love with the team's underdog story, and hope to go to der Alte Försterei one day to see them play
